Tabor Front Page

  Businesses:

Visit Rick's Bakery on Main for the best date-nut cake you've ever tasted. Jeannette Marshall worked there in high school and college, and Lisa Montgomery. Dr. Holwood and his wife, and Joan Archer  all lived in the apartment above the bakery at one time or another

There's the Bookworm, near the corner of Main and Sackley, for used and new books

If you're thirsty, there's the Perk-and-Perch, "the happenin' coffee shop in Tabor Heights," or Stay-a-While, for gourmet coffee, bakery and sandwiches. Max Randolph likes to stop there for refreshments for theater committee meetings.

If you need a quick beauty treatment, try Finesse.

Or check out the Penny Pincher for gently used clothes. The students at Butler-Williams University like to shop there.

  Municipal/Services:

If you need information or you're new in Tabor Heights, visit the municipal complex on Span and Main: Tabor City Hall, Police Department and Library, as well as the municipal court for this section of Cuyahoga County.

Need legal advice? Visit Common Grounds Legal Clinic.

The Post Office is at the top of the hill at Center and Church street.

Right next to the Post Office is Tabor Christian Church, with activities for everyone in the family, as well as counseling services. Tabor Christian runs the Mission, in the former Eloise Elementary School, with a daycare, senior citizens activities, and a food/clothing cupboard.

Don't forget to get your subscription to the Tabor Picayune, the local, bi-weekly paper.

Schools/Entertainment:

Butler-Williams University is spread throughout most of the center of town. Check out the indoor swimming pool, open to the public in the afternoons and weekends. Or the university's theater department. Gilley Stadium is used by Tabor High students for football games and track meets.

Interested in home-grown theater? Check out Homespun Theater, run by the Randolph family.

Then there's the Tabor Cinema, a two-screen theater tucked into the old-fashioned shops that back up to the river, on Main.
